Applus+ has a history of bringing technical innovation to the I/M industry. We have led the way to a number of technology firsts in the I/M industry, including:
- First company to implement biometric fingerprint scanning for inspectors' authentication in a centralized testing environment
- First company to implement electronic iris scanning for inspectors' authentication in decentralized testing program
- First company to implement video-lane monitoring capabilities from a remote location in a decentralized emissions program
- The first company to implement kiosk-based self-service testing in an I/M program.
In addition to our technology firsts, our track record shows our demonstrated ability to implement complex programs under extreme circumstances. Applus+ also replaced a centralized contractor while remaining fully operational. This feat included replacing all emissions inspection equipment, replacing all computer systems, building extensions on the operating lanes, and training inspectors on the operation of the new system.
