State of Nevada, OBDII Pilot Program
Applus+, contracted by MACTEC is currently piloting a self testing solution for a designated fleet of vehicles in the State of Nevada. Under this program, a custom transponder device will be plugged into the Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC) of subject vehicles. The transponder will be used to capture emission testing information for vehicle registration transactions obtained through continuous monitoring of the vehicle’s On-Board Diagnostic Systems, or OBDII. We will be responsible for capturing this information through short-range dedicated receivers.
Once the program is in place, Remote Monitoring OBDII data would be accepted in lieu of the traditional emission test for registration transactions.
"The Department believes that Remote Monitoring of OBDII will be of interest to both government and private fleet operators as an alternate means to submit emission compliance for their fleet registration. Fleet operations, such as Taxi companies have explained to the Department that taking fleet vehicles out of service for emission testing has an impact on their business."
