Applus+ was awarded the contract for the decentralized Idaho Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Program (VIP) in late October 2014, and on February 2, 2015, just three short months later, successfully transitioned the Idaho VIP from the incumbent. Applus+ provides full program support for Canyon County and the city of Kuna, which includes OBDII, TSI and diesel opacity testing equipment, motorist and station recruitment, training, certification, a customer service center, auditing, motorist notification mailings, website development and program maintenance. We delivered a new Vehicle Inspection Database (VID) and created a new Dashboard that supports waiver processing, test authorization purchasing and tracking, and enhanced reporting. The creation of web services to interact with the Idaho Department of Transportation (ITD) automated the transfer of inspection and vehicle registration data; this dramatically changed the monthly processes to real-time transmissions and nightly feeds. In addition, Applus+ automated the interface between Ada County and the Idaho VIP, to enhance reciprocity between the two Idaho programs.
The Idaho VIP is the first Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) program in the country to integrate the On-Board Diagnostic (OBDII) data acquisition device developed by Applus+ to meet the stringent certification requirements of the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) in their entire testing network.
